Hi, I'm Joshua and I'm the founder of 100Tutoring!

When I graduated high school in 2023, I received an ATAR of 99.80 and was recognised as the top Queensland student by the QCAA, for exceptional achievement across 7 high schools subjects, 1 university subject and my involvement in music theory, music performance, Duke of Edinburgh award and volunteering.

On the day I sat my last year 12 exams, I put up an ad to tutor younger students (I already had two years of teaching experience by then). In my eyes, it made sense for me to do what I loved and what I was good at—helping other students by breaking down complex concepts into bite-size explanations. Throughout the first year of university as a pre-medical student, I continued to tutor, helping students with their subjects and giving them my best advice on what they could do to get the top marks. Some of my students got exceptional marks and ended up receiving a higher ATAR than me!

At one point, I was doing about 20 hours of tutoring every week, which consisted of 10+ private students while also working at two tutoring companies. That was great and it made me proud to see my students do so well, but I realised that there were two issues:

1. I wanted to help as many students as possible but my time was limited.
2. Demand for my tutoring services were high - I had a long waitlist of students who needed tutoring.

That's how 100Tutoring was born.

I could indirectly help as many students as possible by hiring some of the best tutors who students and parents could trust. By doing so, I could also meet the high demand for tutoring services. But I thought about how I could be different from other tutoring companies because I didn't want to hire tutors who only got high marks and ATAR results. In fact, I wanted to hire tutors who could inspire and had passions in teaching.

To make sure I have the best team possible, every tutor that works for 100Tutoring has gone through a multi-step screening process. When looking for tutors, I try my best to understand candidates and see why they would like to tutor students, and more importantly, how they can help students achieve their best. Tutors who excel in this process are the ones who work under 100Tutoring! Furthermore, a lot of other tutoring companies charge unaffordable rates which turns out to be the company's piece of pie—they take $40 or $50 while only providing $30 or $40 to their tutors. I find this unethical, so it does not happen at 100Tutoring.
